Pure Yoga

Yoga is the union of body, mind and spirit – a uniting of the individual Self with the universal Self. It is understanding and feeling the harmony and connectedness of the universe and of appreciating your place in it. In simpler terms it is sensing that you are not alone – it is touching an inner still point where you feel at peace and at one with yourself and the world around you.

Yoga allows you to rediscover a sense of wholeness in your life where you are not constantly trying to fit the broken pieces together. Yoga allows you to find the inner peace that is not rifled or ruffled by the endless stresses and struggles of life.

Yoga is not a religion nor does it discriminate against faiths or beliefs. It is all-welcoming. Cultural and religious diversity simply form the brightly coloured threads of this rich tapestry called life – one where we are all equal and all form part of the oneness that is this universe.

A human being is a part of the whole called by us “the universe” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something seperate from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of understanding and compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
